Encountering God’s Call with the Missionaries of Charity
Sr. M. Maximiliana belongs to the Missionaries of Charity, the community founded by Saint Teresa of Calcutta to serve “the poorest of the poor.” As a Missionary of Charity, she has given her life to Jesus through vows of chastity, poverty, obedience, and wholehearted and free service to those most in need.
About the Missionaries of Charity (Mother Teresa’s Sisters)
The Missionaries of Charity are an international congregation of sisters founded in 1950 in Calcutta by Saint Teresa of Calcutta (Mother Teresa). Their charism is “to quench the infinite thirst of Jesus Christ on the Cross for love and souls” by serving Him in the poorest of the poor.
• Vows: In addition to the three traditional vows, they profess a fourth vow of wholehearted and free service to the poorest of the poor.
• Spirituality: Simplicity, humility, trust in Divine Providence, and a deep Eucharistic and Marian devotion.
• Apostolate: Caring for the hungry, homeless, sick, abandoned, and unwanted, wherever people are most forgotten.
• Global presence: Thousands of sisters now serve in countries around the world, making the Church tangibly present in the slums and margins of society.
For young women, the Missionaries of Charity offer a radical, joyful way to belong totally to Jesus and to give one’s life for those who have no one else.
Pray
We begin before the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament, listening to His Word and His quiet voice in our hearts. Through guided prayer and silence, you are invited to bring your questions, desires, and fears about vocation honestly to Jesus and to let Him speak into them.
Break Bread (Dinner)
After prayer, we gather around the table for a relaxed, family‑style meal. This is a time to “break bread” with other women who are discerning, ask informal questions, and experience the joy and normalcy of community life lived close to Christ.
Formation
The evening includes a talk and conversation led by a sister, focused on both spiritual and human growth, learning how to pray, make good decisions, and live healthy, balanced, faith‑filled lives. Through her testimony, teaching, and Q&A, she helps you see how God works through your personality, relationships, and daily responsibilities to reveal His call.

Do I need to register beforehand?
In most cases, advance registration is helpful but not required; check the event details for any simple RSVP form so we can plan for food and materials.
What should I wear and bring?
Dress modestly and comfortably for church and small‑group conversation, and consider bringing a Bible, journal, and pen; everything else you need will be provided.
